So after hubby read the last poem I posted he said "dude, you need to write some happy poetry" (well ok, he didn't say dude...I say dude....but I can't remember his exact words :)). So here's an attempt at a happier poem.
July cold front
it’s beautiful today
with the windows down
my hair blows everywhere
you tell me I look like Cousin It and
I smile at the obvious statement and declare
“the hair does what it does”
which is true
and so does the wind
the night before
we sat outside on our little balcony
and you asked me
if I wanted to read and I said no and
I sat with you
silently letting the evening seep inside me
we slept with the windows open
the white curtains blowing
my fingers lightly touched your too-hot arm
and I tried to hold on to you
and the night air that skirted across my shoulders
building a balcony of cool summer
breezes in my mind
