So, I've been having a hard time falling asleep the last couple of nights...I think it's because I made a pitcher of iced tea that I've been drinking...anyway, here I am dinking around on the internet after midnight again. I did a google search for one of the towns that we were going to be passing through this weekend on our way to a gaming gathering with some of Rob's college friends to see if it would be a good place to stop for lunch, and I learned that there are wikipedia entries for towns (I know, I know, there are wikipedia entries for everything)....even itty bitty tiny towns. So I entered in Estelline and Grandin (my hometowns) and learned about the census data like the number of households and average income and all that interesting but completely useless information...but I also learned that the little town in North Dakota that I grew up in was the birthplace of a relatively famous ("relatively" because I hadn't heard of him--but famous enough that they are building a museum to house his collection in Denver) abstract expressionist painter. He created revolutionary paintings in the 1940s and 1950s. Of course he died before we even moved to Grandin, but it was interesting to know that someone so creative came out of that postage stamp of a town.
