So I challenged myself to write or revise 10 poems in May. I did not quite meet this goal, but I'm going to call it a success. Here's why:
If you've been following along with my journey, you may remember that in 2014 I wrote 3 binders worth of poems (like 380 or something). Well, in May of 2016, I finally finished going through them. I color coded the poems with post it notes. One color for revise now--these are good, another color for these are pretty good and have potential, and a third color for poems that have a good idea or a good stanza, but that need heavy revision. All the poems that didn't meet these three criteria were left blank. I'll probably revisit the leftovers at some point, but I was really pleased I finally finished going through them. I started in January of 2015, but I stopped several times, and now I can focus on revising more (theoretically).
I also wrote 4 new poems and gave good second revisions to 4 more poems. So I almost made that 10 goal, and with the binder success, I'm calling it a win. Truly the goal of not losing the momentum from April's NaPo projects was the win. June is a very busy month, so I'll set a goal of 5 new or revised poems (but hope that I can beat it).
